Day-flying moth with highly characteristic whiter Y-shaped marking on forewings. For caterpillar see Silver-Y caterpillar.
Seen feeding on Michaelmas daisy flowers in the garden in summer (September). Caught in light trap 11th and 17th June, and 27th July (3 individuals), 2023. Seen in wildflower meadow during the day during July, 2023. Caught in light trap, 26th August, 2023, 1 individual. Three attracted to porch light 6th September, 2023. One in greenhouse 15th September, 2023. Flying in garden during the day in late September and early October, 2023. Caught in light trap 8th October, 2023 (9). Seen in garden in latter part of May and in light trap 25th May, 2024. Caught in light trap 29th July (1), 2024. Seen in garden 3rd August, 2024. In light trap 19th Sept. 2024 (1).
