The snout

Hypena proboscidalis

Notes

Moth with a triangular outline at rest and long palps that extend in front of the head. Wings a grey brown with two prominent transverse dark brown lines, the more anterior wavey and the posterior one straight; radial dark lines along the trailing edge of the wings. Underwings pale silver.

Sightings by month

Found resting in greenhouse 12th June, 2022 and 2nd July, 2022. Caught in moth trap 20th August, 2022. Caught in moth trap 17th June, 2023; in greenhouse 8th July, 2023. Attracted to moth trap lamp 5th September (1), 14th September (1) and 25th September (1), 2023. In greenhouse 17th September, 2023 (1). Caught in light trap 19th June (1); 24th June (3); 29th July (2), 2024.
