Appearance

Large fungus up to 10 cm diameter. Cap brown, deeply cracked and scaly away from centre. Gills free, with pinkish tinge when fresh, turning darker brown with age. Stalk solid, thick, smooth with poorly developed ring. Spore print dark brown. Spores 7.4-8.2 x 4.8-5.5 um (mean = 7.7 x 5.0 um, N = 16); oval with asymmetric apiculus and no germ pore.

Habitat

In gravel verge of Hermitage Lane.
