Conocybe rickenii

Appearance

Cap campaniform, honey-coloured, smooth and hairless, without radial patterning; retains traces of a white veil round the edge; up to 2 cm in diameter. Gills adnate, pale in colour but becoming rusty orange with maturity; Stem long and slender with longitudinal white pruinose bands of caulicystidia along its entire length; reddish, becoming darker towards the base; hollow; stiff.

Spore print orange-brown. Spores large – 14-17.4 x 8.4-10.3 um, mean = 16.0 x 9.4 um; ellipsoidal and thick-walled with a germ pore. Cheilocystidia lecythiform, small with a narrow neck and rounded head. Caulocystidia similar. No pleurocystidia. Cap surface made of a layer of inflated cells.

Habitat

In potting compost/soil of fig tree.
