Fungi
Small mushroom appearing in large numbers. Cap initially tall bell-shaped about 1 cm in diamater, steel grey in colour and covered in white hairy scales giving it a furry appearance. Subsequently opening to form a delicate umbrella, often upturned towards rim; clearly marked by dark radial lines. Gills black with pale edge; deliquesing. Stem narrow, long, hollow, white in colour; covered in fine white fibres. Short-lived.
Growing from amongst leaf litter beneath cut-leaf beech. Also in half-moon border (Sept., 2022) and in grass near compost bins (Oct.).
