Appearance

Small fungus up to 3.5 cm in diameter, with white to ivory white cap, stem and gills. Cap waxy, initially domed-conical, becoming flat and then eventually slightly concave and off-white in colour; Gills decurrent and rather strong and well-spaced; interveined. Stem slender and smooth; tapering to base and hollow. Spore print white. Spores pip-shaped, hyaline in KOH, inamyloid in Metzer’s; smooth-walled, without germ pore; 6.3-7.8 x 4.5-5.5 um, mean = 7.2 x 5.0 um, N = 20; Q = 1.44. Basidia mostly two-spored. No cystidia.

Habitat

Waxcap meadow: moderately common.
