Appearance

Cap 4-5 cm in diameter; flat-topped with small central umbo and slightly depressed inner zone; dry, silky; tan coloured at centre but mostly white with glassy translucent streaks; surface fibrillose. Gills white with pinkish speckling along edges and sides, becoming pinkish with age; emarginate; unbranched. Stem to 40 mm by 3.5 mm diameter; stiff and snaps when bent; white to light grey in colour; fibrillose.

Spore print orange. Spores rounded-angular, heterodiametric, smooth, 8.0-10.8 x 6.7-8.0 um, mean = 9.8 x7.5 um, N = 15; Q = 1.1-1.5, mean 1.3; dextrinoid. No cystidia.

Habitat

Growing in wooded corner of garden under holly and oak.
