Resupinate white polypore

Fibroporia vaillantii


Appearance

White encrusting polypore with bodies up to 6 cm in length encrusting woody debris floor; rather soft; surface labyrinthine with regular close-packed pores about 2 per mm; tubes up to 3 mm depth. Spores hyaline and not stained by Metzer's; ellipsoidal and smooth-walled; apiculus small and no germ pore; 4.6-6.9x 3.0-3.6 um , mean 5.5 x 3.3 um, N = 20; Q = 1.7. No cystidia.
