Fungi
Club-like black fungus usually single but sometimes clustered. Head glossy ink-black and tongue-like, stalk slightly violaceous and covered in fine pale scales; a few fine white hyphae at base. Asci long with 8 spores bundled together. Spores long, slender and almost straight. Paraphyses with curved, often slightly swollen tip. No setae.
Growing in mossy grass on path at top of waxcap meadow (near carpet rose bed).
