Cap 3-5 cm in diameter; initially conical, bright green and slimy with radial banding of green-yellow around margin; then flattening and becoming concave with small umbo and often turning yellow usually retaining a green tinge with age. Gills strong adnexe to free, pale yellow in colour. Stalk smooth, slimy, initially; a strong green colour initially but fading to a cream-yellow, though generally retaining traces of green. Spore print white. Spores pip-like, inamyloid, smooth-walled, without germ pore; 7.5-8.8 x 4.3-5.2 um, mean = 7.9 x 4.8 um, N = 14; Q = 1.6.
