Slimy earth tongue

Glutinoglossum glutinosum


Appearance

Slender earthtongue with a smooth, slimy dark brown stem and club-shaped head. Slime dries and peels after collecting. Stem with outer layer of mucoid hairs. No setae. Spores narrow and slightly curved, up to 85 um in length and with up to 4 partitions; some filled with a series of small droplets. Asci with two or three spores abreast and with simple, rounded tip. Paraphyses with terminal rounded head.

Habitat

Growing in mossy grass behind pergola.
