Appearance

Cap to 4 cm in diameter, domed to flat with rounded underturned edges; orange-red; dry; surface cracking into scales. Gills thick, adnate to weakly decurrent, orange-yellow in colour. Stalk smooth, peach-red in colour, paler towards base, slightly waxy to touch. Spore print white. Spores ovate, very finely granular surface; often slightly wider at one end; 6.3-7.2 x 3.7-4.3 um, mean = 6.7 x 4.0 um, N = 20; Q = 1.69.
