Appearance

Cap 3-5 cm diameter; initially domed then brecoming flattened and eventually distinctly concave with upturned rim; waxy surface; strong orange colour without obvious radial banding. Gills stout, adnate to slightly decurrent, pale yellow-orange in colour. Stalk stout, smooth, waxy, pale yellow-orange to orange in colour. Sweet scented. Spore print white. Spores ellipsoidal to subrectangular with rounded ends; no germ pore; thin walled; 7.0-8.2 x 3.9-4.6 um, mean = 7.5 x 4.2 um, N = 16; Q = 1.8.

Habitat

Waxcap meadow; moderately common.
