Appearance

Cap to 30 mm diameter, funnel-shaped with deep umbo and rounded, inturned margins; white, bruising brown; surface dry, smnooth. Gills only moderately dense and strongly decurrant; white with smooth edges; apparently readily detached from stalk. Stalk long and tapering downwards (26 x 5.5 mm); white with a tendency to brown where damaged; fine short white hyphae at base. Spore print white. Spores ellipsoidal, smooth- and thin-walled with very small apiculus; 5.8-7.9 x 3.4-4.0 um, mean = 6.7 x 3.7, N = 20; Qav = 1.8. No cystidia. Absence of an umbo at the centre and lack of bulbous base are unusual, hence the uncertainty.

Habitat

A small cluster in grass beneath Golden Spires apple tree.
