Appearance

Small (ca. 1-1.5 mm in diameter) white, cup-shaped fungus with short stem; and finely hairy outer surface. In smaller individuals the rim is thicker. Marginal hairs cylindrical, dark coloured and rough. Asci small without apparatus or croziers; spores biserially arranged inside. Hymenium with long projecting spine-like paraphyses extending above the asci. Spores narrow, fusiform with longitudinal ?germ pore/ridge; 4.4-6.2 x 1.1-1.5 um (mean = 4.9 x 1.3 um, N = 13); Q = 3.8.

Habitat

On lower surface of rotting log of oak (2023), associated with Merismodes.
