Fungi
Cap to 55 mm diameter, low domed with central pointed umbo and surrounding dimple; pinkish grey in colour with faint radial banding; surface dry and slightly felted. Gills dense, decurrant and cream-peach in colour; in 3-4 cycles; brittle and yielding sparse white latex milk when snapped (arrow). Stalk long and moderately thick (60 x 8 mm); white and slighly frosted in appearance but peach coloured where damaged; fine short white hyphae at base. Spore print pale. Spores sub-spherical with prominent stout warts that are strongly interconnected by ridges (B2-C2 morphology); 5.8-8.7 x 5.2-6.5 um, mean = 6.8 x 5.7 um, N = 13; Q = 1.19. Cheilocystidia rather small and cylindrical to fusiform, occasionally with amorphous filling. Milk very sparse and mild-tasting; white in colour.
A small cluster in grass beneath damsen trees and close to the large silver birch (Betula sylvatica).
