Lactarius subdulcis


Appearance

Cap 6-7 cm in diameter; dry; a rich orange-brown in colour and with concentric zoning towards rim; aging and drying a paler tan colour. Gills decurrent, pale tan in colour, with extensive milky-white latex exude; latex mild and not unpleasant; drying white. Stalk solid, thick, smooth without ring; reddish brown in hue towards base which is not swollen; extensive white hyphae at base.  

Spore print white. Spores subcircular with prominent warts with some connecting bars (type A3-B3); 7.6-8.3 x 5.5-6.5 um, mean = 8.0 x 6.0 um, N = 12; Q =1.4.

Habitat

Under cutleaf beech tree growing from soil/leaf litter; rare.
