Gills dense, white, ageing to a flesh colour; free; unbranched. Stem broadening downwards, 65 mm long by 8 mm diameter near cap to 16 mm diameter at base; hollow; staining red where damaged; upper part fibrous and white, lower part with many reddish brown scales; no proper ring developed at any stage.
