Appearance

Small (ca. 0.1-0.2 mm in diameter) cream-coloured, stalked, cup-shaped fungus with hairy external surface. Initially isolated urn-shaped structures but growing together to form a dense contiguous mat. To naked eye appears to be a pale fawn resupinate coating. Individual cups with numerous coarse, brown-staining hairs that have a clavate tip. Spores hyaline and smooth with apiculus and (usually) large oil droplet inclusions; 7.2-9.5 x 4.0-5.6 um (mean = 8.5 x 4.5 um, N = 16).

Habitat

Growing on cut surface of rotting log of oak in association with Lachnum and Mollisia.
