Appearance

Small mycenid; cap from 6 mm to 16 mmin diameter, domed, with a distinct central umbo; pale cream to pink colour at centre grading quickly to off-white towards the edge with slight radial crenulation towards the edge; hygrophanous and drying white. Gills adnexed; white in colour, unbranched and rather strong; 22 lamellae reach the stalk. Rim of gills a pale cream. Stalk slender (up to 80 mm length by 1.5 mm diameter), hollow, smooth; short basal segment with numerous white fibrils attaching to buried twig or wood fragment; when fresh a violaceous grey colour, paler towards cap. No latex. Spore print white. Spores strongly amyloid; oval, smooth-walled with distinct apiculus; 8.5-9.1 mm x 4.8-5.2 mm (small individual), 8.1-9.2 X 4.3-5.0 um, mean = 8.6 x 4.5, N = 20; Qav = 1.9 (larger individual). Cheilocystidia abundant, short, clavate with fine fingers (echinate). No pleurocystidia.

Habitat

Single individuals growing amongst wood detritus under the oak tree.
