Appearance

Small, to ca. 1 cm diameter. Cap campanulate to domed then almost flat, pale fawn in colour at centre but turning almost white towards tthe edge with distinct darker fine radial banding around outer part. Gills adnate, white in colour, unbranched and moderately spaced. Stalk slender, generally darker than the cap in colour and distinctly darkening away from cap to become a reddish brown; rooting amongst moss with fine white hyphae towards base.  

Spore print white. Spores small and pip-shaped; 7.0-8.2 x 4.0-4.9 um; mean = 7.5 x 4.4 um, n = 21; Qav = 1.8. Basidia 4-spored. Cheilocystidia numerous; domed to baloon-shaped with outer surface covered in spines. Pleurocystidia similar but sparse.

Habitat

Mossy grass paths at bottom of garden and beside kitchen rockery, late September onwards.
