Appearance

Small fungus up to 3 cm diameter. Cap bell-shaped initially before opening to a parasol shape; pale cream margin becoming khaki towards the centre; distinctly waxy surface when fresh, and with radial lineation obvious towards rim; drying to a straw colour. Gills emarginate, white in colour, unbranched; three sizes of lamellulae between primary gills. Stalk slender, hollow, pale, smooth; some specimens with a well developed root, longer than the stem.  

Spore print white. Spores oval; smooth and without a germ pore; 11.2-12.8 x 8.0-9.0 um, mean = 11.8 x 8.2 um, n = 18; Q = 1.4. Cheilocystidia common, small clavate cells with lots of small finger-like surface protuberances over their surface. No pleurocystidia.

Habitat

Growing from under bark in fallen cherry tree trunk.
