Fungi
Cap 1.0-2.5 cm in diameter; campanulate to domed in shape; dark chestnut brown in colour but drying to a lighter brown and blackening with age; surface matt to slightly waxy. Gills deeply adnate with finely toothed edge; light fawn in colour but quickly turning black; unbranched. Stem brown, 3.5-6.0 mm in length and 2.8-3.4 mm in diameter; cylindrical without ring; upper part with a fine white bloom and base also with fine white fibrils; fibrose and silky in texture. Spore print black. Spores brown in colour, lemon-shaped with a clear germ pore at one end and a second opening at opposite pole; 10.2-11.5 um in length (10.9 mean) by 6.9-8.0 um in diameter (mean 7.5). The black spore print, slightly smaller spores and darker brown colour of the dried cap distinguish this from Panaeolina foenisecii
Large numbers appeared in the grass in front of the house on April 9th, 2022, and 22nd March,2023. Short lived and blackening within the day. Scattered individuals and small groups appeared subsequently in the wildflower meadow and near the french windows in the short grass lawn in April. A second fruiting appeared in grass paths and wildflower meadow in late June - July.
