Appearance

Thin-fleshed, fragile cap that starts a rather dark brown but dries to off-white. Surface of cap smooth and slightly waxy; radial striae evident in outer half; domed but eventually becoming flat with central umbo; 5 cm diameter. Gills with a purplish hue; adnate with mottled walls and white edge. Stem long (10 cm), thin (9 mm) and stiff; cream coloured with white fibrils; rows of cystidea near cap.

Spore print dark with a purplish tinge. Spores bean-shaped with large terminal germ pore; 10.2-11 x 6.1-6.6 um (mean - 10.6 x 6.3 um, N = 12); Qav.= 1.7; surface smooth. Cheilocystidia sparse, simple utriform to cylindrical tubes with rounded head. No pleurocystidia seen.

Habitat

Solitary growing on decayed woody stump at bottom of garden.
