Brown cup

Appearance

Small brown cup 12.5 mm in diameter and 4.6mm deep; brown with a yellowish smooth rim. Stem 12.5 mm long and 1 mm wide at most; black to dark brown. Asci with cylindrical apical apparatus staining blue in Metzer’s reagent, ending in a crozier tip at proximal end. Paraphyses simple and without lobes. Spores fusiform, smooth, often internally divided into two by median dark band; 13.6-15.0 x 4.6-5.5 um, mean 14.5 x 5.0, N = 8.

Habitat

In woody debris beneath the oak tree.
