Notes

Small 6-8 mm dipteran with small head and short Y-shaped antennae. Legs banded. Thorax and rear part of abdomen dark but light (yellow) band proximally on abdomen. Wings with dark leading edge but no black cell markings. Identification uncertain, possibly Empis opaca [differs from E. tesselata which also occurs here in having pale, not black, femora and from E. livida in having two not three thoracic stripes.].
