Syrphid with bronze thorax and scutellum, narrow abdomen having 3 paired, curved yellow-orange patches separated by a narrow black median line. Female (upper fig.) with broad triangular white dust patches on fons); male (lower fig.) with yellow bands on abdomen segments longer than wide.
