Molluscs: land snails
Shell 8 mm in diameter with conical profile; 5 whorls; dark red-brown in colour except for a white keel; finely marked with obvious growth striae. Keel distinct. Aperture a little wider than tall. Umbilicus almost obliterated, hiding inner whorls.
Found in wild-flower border under the oak tree in late March and on holly tree trunk beside oak tree in June.
