Plants and animals of Pointfield

Medium-sized, dark spider up to ca. 1 cm in length. Carapace dark brown to almost black; glossy. Black abdomen with indistinct paler markings and fine velvet-like appearance. Eight eyes in two rows. Chelicerae large and obvious. Legs and thorax chesnut brown without annulations.

Found outdoors under wood beneath cut leaf beech and in vegetable plot.
