Plants and animals of Pointfield

Medium-sized, dark web-spoinning spider up to ca. 1 cm in length. Carapace with white hairs outlining fovia and around margin. Abdomen rounded; brown to black, with distinctive dark triangle at anterior and folium outlined in white. Legs obviously banded black/brown - amber. The two species L. patagiatus and L. sclopetarius are similar and can only be confirmed by microscopic examination of genitalia.

Individuals found in the upstairs bathroom over winter. Mostly out at night on web. Seen in porch at night in July.
