Perennial wildflower with flower spike bearing tubular purple flowers with spotted lower lip; flowers arranged in widely-spaced whorls. Stem square in cross-section. Leaves paired, the upper ones long and narrow, lower ones heart-shaped. Leaves and stem hairy; stem square.
