Appearance

Tall plant with large open simple 5-petaled flowers. Petals purple in colour with veining and widely separated from each other; distinctly notched on their outer edge. Stamens borne on a central stalk in the middle of the flower. Leaves on stem broad with 5-7 lobes; becoming less lobed in those towards the base.

Habitat

In shaded wild flower border beneath the oak tree.
