Nipplewort

Lapsana communis


Appearance

Tall, upright plant with hairy stem and leaves. Leaves ovate and pointed distally, larger leaves with a pair of labes at their base. Flowers in widely separated pannicles, each flower with a long stalk; flower heads rather thin and cylindrical before opening.

Habitat

In gravel leading to the kitchen courtyard.
