Appearance

Medium to tall stoloniferous thistle, stem usually branched, but not winged or spiny. Leaves lanceolate, pinnately lobed, spiny, the upper leaves unstalked. Flowerheads pale purple to lilac, 15 to 25 mm, solitary or in clusters of up to 5 together, stalked.

Habitat

In half-crescent wild flower border near oak tree.
