Appearance

Small waxcap 3-4 cm in diameter. Cap initially domed then becoming flattened with age; slightly waxy but never slimey; yellow with obvious radial cream striae seen across outer part of disc. Gills adnate, off white to pale yellow in colour; much lighter than cap; appearing decurrent when cap becomes concave. Stalk slender, similar in colour to cap or slightly lighter with waxy feel. Spore print white. Spores small and oblong to weakly kidney-shaped and slightly constricted on one side; apiculus small and offset; 5.3-6.2 x 2.8-3.6 um, mean = 5.6 x 3.2 um, N = 20; Q = 1.7.

Distinguished from H. chlorophana by its adnate to slightly decurrent gills.
