Fungi
Cap 3-5 cm in diameter, initially domed then becoming flat and eventually slightly concave; often with slightly irregular margin. Cap a strong orange-yellow and distinctly waxy and slimy when wet. Gills adnate to emarginate, pale yellow in colour (rarely white) and paler than cap; gills rather strong adnexed often with an emarginate tooth. Stalk smooth and waxy; same colour as cap. Spore print white, spores small, bean-shaped often slightly constricted with smooth surface; 5.8-6.8 x 2.9-3.2, mean = 6.1 x 3.1, N = 20; Qav = 1.96.
Differs from H. ceracea only in having adnex, sometimes emarginate gills.
Waxcap meadow. Moderately common.
